Ask many a teen who has suffered from severe acne and you know that the scars left behind are sometimes the biggest deterrent to developing an outgoing and confident persona. The same may be said of unsightly skin blemishes, such as black head, pimples and also enlarged pores. Since girls in particular suffer the most when their skin is marred by these conditions, it is not surprising that an entire industry has sprung up which promises to make all of these condition disappear. There are astringents that are to be put on the skin, creams and lotions, potions and salves, but to truly affect a visible and lasting change it is time to look to technology instead of chemistry.
A commonly known procedure known as a laser acne treatment also treats black heads, pimples and enlarged pores. Although aimed at reducing the appearance of scars left behind by teenaged bouts with acne, the treatment will also take care of the other skin conditions. Black heads, which are not always black but may also be yellow, brown, or any combination of these colors, are little more than pore plugs. Affecting skin areas that are known to be predominantly oily, such as the nose or forehead, the plugs are formed when oil and debris from the air mix. Combined with naturally shed skin particles and of course bacteria which are ever present on the human skin, these black heads soon turn into hardened plugs that fit inside the pores. Although some strips have been developed that seek to remove the plugs, the appearance of the skin is unattractive.
The same laser acne treatment that will remove the uppermost layers of skin scarred by the improperly healed scabs of acne marks will also remove the black heads or work by laser resurfacing. The same is true for pimples. Although the occasional pimple is hardly worth this kind of effort, the kind of laser acne treatment that actively seeks to counter the condition is aimed at the angry red, inflamed, and painful bumps in the skin that will not respond to any other treatment. Sometimes they are found on the face, but other times these pimples are also on the chest and back. In simplest terms, pimples are little more than blockages in the skin’s pores that the body attacks as a foreign object, the formation of pus is not only unsightly but also very painful.
Removal of the upper skin layer will not only help with the removal of the pus but also prevent the permanent formation of enlarged pores which is brought on by the plugged up pores which must hold not only the plugs but also the developing pus. Of course, there is no guarantee that the laser acne treatment will leave you with skin as smooth as a baby’s bottom and it is entirely possible that such a treatment may adversely affect your skin’s pigmentation. On the other hand, if you are following the treating doctor’s instructions in detail, then your odds of recovering with healthy looking skin are great indeed.
